Lake Geneva Fall Wedding – Stevie & Matt
Stevie and Matt could not have asked for a better fall day for their outdoor ceremony at Abbey Springs on Lake Geneva. The trees were in full, colorful fall splendor and contrasted beautifully with the crisp blue lake and sky.
The day starts as this gorgeous bride gets ready for the big day. Stevie’s dress perfectly suited the fall wedding with the taupe leaf accents. Stevie’s sister is her maitron of honor, and Matt is fortunate enough to have two co-best men: his identical twin brother and also Stevie’s son. Yes, you heard that right – twin – as I mentioned in an earlier blog post – I have had so many brides and grooms who are a twin in this past year!
As is only fitting when you have a wedding ON Lake Geneva, a pier was an awesome spot for Stevie and Matt to have their first look. The white pier against the blue water and sky is a beautiful backdrop for their emotional yet glamorous first look. Matt even had to get in on the action and take a walk down the catwalk, I mean… Pier, for Stevie. Cuz why should brides be the only ones getting admired for their stunning special selves!
Because the couple decided to do a first look, it gave us the time to take great photos of just the bride and groom. From the pier at Abbey Springs, we walked along the path that circles the lake and is backed by gorgeous lake homes. The colors, walls, grasses, and landscape provided an ideal backdrop for bridal portraits while also providing some seclusion to capture some great moments and intimacy between the bride and groom.
I said it once, and I’ll say it again, but this couple had the perfect day and perfect setting. The ceremony was outdoors with the lake as the backdrop. Add the colors on the opposite shore to add more color to the charm and personality of the ceremony to equal a totally special and meaningful ceremony. Stevie and Matt wrote their own vows and Matt even presented Stevie’s son with a bracelet to represent the three of them coming together as a family.
This late October wedding just happened to be during baseball post-season. But it was not just any playoff game this night. THE game that would decide if the Chicago Cubs would be in the world series after 108 years was on – and there was not a TV in site at the reception hall. Not to fear – many people could stream it on their phones. And as a beacon of good luck, the father of the bride transformed a centerpiece in to a potential “W” flag! Stevie and Matt made one of the most rocking entrances ever when introduced as husband and wife! After many great speeches and toasts (and as you’ll see, one was many pages long…!), the party dancing took off! And wouldn’t you know, the pumpkin W flag was needed! Woo – hoo! Go Cubbies! The father of the bride could not ask for a better night of events!!! And Stevie and Matt could not have asked for a better time for their wedding!
